COLUMBIA, SC – OCTOBER 11: A fallen tree rests on a house after remnants of Hurricane Michael passed through on October 11, 2018 in Columbia, South Carolina. The accident sent at least one person to the hospital. (Photo by Sean Rayford/Getty Images)

Rider’s Of The Storm  has put together a comprehensive list of helpful Public Charity links from Charity Navigator to aid you in the long recovery process of recovering from Hurricane Michael .

Relief for Hurricane Michael

Hurricane Michael crashed into the Florida Panhandle as a powerful Category 4 storm on October 10. This is the first storm of this magnitude to hit the region. Meteorologists continue to predict a life-threatening storm surge in coastal areas, as well as catastrophic winds and deadly flooding along the coast and inland.

Officials are warning that Hurricane Michael is extremely dangerous, and unlike any other hurricane to hit the region. Residents who did not evacuate are being urged to shelter in place and ride out this storm.

After it passes through Florida, Hurricane Michael is expected to drench Georgia and the Carolinas with heavy rainfall. These areas are still working to recover after Hurricane Florence caused widespread damage a few weeks ago. They are bracing for another round of flooding.

By donating to one of the highly-rated charities on this list, you will help to deliver much-needed aid and relief to communities affected by Hurricane Michael. Organizations like Team Rubicon, Samaritan’s Purse, All Hands and Hearts Smart Response, and Direct Relief are closely monitoring the path of this storm and are already preparing to deploy relief teams to assist in its immediate wake. These charities, and others like them, will provide food, shelter, medical care, and other necessities to victims of the storm.

Charity Navigator has confirmed that the organizations on this list will provide assistance to the communities affected by Hurricane Michael. Donors can designate their donations to the cause on the organizations’ websites respectively, or use Charity Navigator’s Giving Basket to complete their donations. Please note, at this time it is not certain that all of these organizations will spend 100% of donations received on Hurricane Michael relief.*

You can find more information about inclusion on this list by Emailing us at Riders Of The Storm.

If you or a loved one is someone who has special needs, like depends on an oxygen tank or are disabled and may need help evacuating, please do not  wait until the last minute or when  an order to evacuate has been giving to reach out for help. Take the time and prepare now to get them registered at your local county emergency management agency office.

There is a special needs registry in most if not all Florida counties maintained by your local county EMA. This helps your local agency determine how many people need help and who may need assistance in evacuating. It is better to prepared and not need it, than to need it and not be prepared. You can find the forms to fill out online as well as your local special needs shelters, by finding your county in the list below and looking for or searching for the forms and or shelters.
